Stolen Wages Settlement
Update 11, 10 July 2020
Welcome to our eleventh Stolen Wages Settlement email update to claimants (workers under the Stolen Wages practices) and registered representatives (for deceased claimants).
Only 49 days left to submit supporting information and ID
There are only 49 days left to submit all the information and identity verification (photo ID) required to support a registered claim under the Stolen Wages Settlement Distribution Scheme. The deadline is 28 August 2020.
Thank you to everyone that has already sent in all their information and photo ID. If you know of someone that has registered for the Stolen Wages Settlement, please make sure they know of the deadline.
In our last email we mentioned our temporary office in Townsville from 25 June – 3 July 2020. We had many claimants visit us to discuss their claims, including the original claimant, Mr Hans Pearson. Pictured above is Mr Pearson with Jessie Billy from the Stolen Wages Information Centre in our temporary office in Townsville.
We are coming to Cherbourg, Woorabinda, Yarrabah and Brisbane
As Queensland communities re-open from the Coronavirus restrictions we are once again visiting communities when we are able to, and when it is safe to do so. We are consulting with local councils regarding the visits, including about COVID safe plans. Our next round of visits will be to Cherbourg, Woorabinda, Yarrabah and Brisbane. The details are set out below and on our website, www.stolenwages.com.au. Please contact the Stolen Wages Information Centre if you would like to make an appointment to see us in Cherbourg, Woorabinda, Yarrabah or Brisbane.
Staff from the Stolen Wages Information Centre will be in Cherbourg at the Cherbourg Town Hall, 22 Barambah Avenue, from Monday, 13 July to Wednesday, 15 July 2020.
Staff from the Stolen Wages Information Centre will be in Woorabinda at the HACC building, 112 Munns Drive on the afternoon of Thursday, 16 July and for all of Friday, 17 July 2020.
Commencing Tuesday, 14 July 2020 we will once again have an office in Yarrabah. The office will be located at the Gunggandji Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC office at 13 Smith Street, Yarrabah (the old hospital). We will be at this location in Yarrabah every Tuesday until further notice.
Our office in Brisbane has re-opened and is located at Grant Thornton, level 18, 145 Ann Street, Brisbane and is open every Wednesday.
As more communities open up and arrangements are made, the details will be made available on our website.
No ID, no payment
6,835 people have not provided us with an acceptable identity verification document (photo ID) (acceptable ID is listed at stolenwages.com.au). For those that haven’t done so already, please do so before 28 August 2020.
If you provided an identification document (photo ID) to Bottoms English Lawyers you will still need to provide a current photo ID to the Stolen Wages Information Centre in order to verify your claim.
Our website - www.stolenwages.com.au - is the place to go to for accurate and up to date information.
