Forewarned is forearmed - How to prepare for an ATO review

Date: Tuesday, 31 October
Time: 7:30am arrival for a 8:00am start - 9:00am
Location: Grant Thornton Melbourne | Level 22, Tower 5, 727 Collins St Melbourne

The ATO has publicly disclosed that it is investing significant time and resources in engaging with taxpayers through one of its many assurance programs.

Join our panel discussion with ATO Assistant Commissioner, Michelle Sams and ATO Risk and Intelligence Director, Sean Williams. Michelle and Sean will present alongside Grant Thornton Tax Partners, Daniel Kave, Jason Casas, Murat Cihanger and Rhys Penning, on the ATO's expectation of taxpayers during a review and issues discovered throughout the process.

The assurance programs are key products which the ATO use to ensure the business community are meeting their income tax, GST and transfer pricing obligations.

In our experience, most current interactions with the ATO fall under one of the assurance programs. The information in this session will help to understand the ATO’s current and future focus areas and where businesses might need to put resources to meet the ATO’s expectations.

Our discussion will cover:
  • Key findings from the ATO's income tax assurance programs to date
  • ATO’s current views and focus areas including transfer pricing, GST, and tax governance
  • Details of the future of the review programs, including the roll out of the medium and emerging markets program
