The Federal Government’s Mandatory Code of Conduct for Commercial Leases is being rolled out by each state and territory. The long awaited Code for Western Australia was finalised and released on 29 May 2020.

The Code is intended to be a “roadmap” for how landlords and tenants can view their leasing relationships during the pandemic and provide clarity as to the way forward.

However, as with most legislation or regulations the devil is in the detail.

Join our expert webinar panel including Grant Thornton Partner Craig Simon, MinterEllison Partner Gehann Perera and Property Council of Australia's WA Executive Director Sandra Brewer, who will explore the core principles underpinning the Code and the practical issues arising from these here in Western Australia.

During the session, we will cover:
  • operation of the code, including eligibility
  • what tenants need to consider when seeking relief
  • what role do landlords have in the relief process
  • where the uncertainties still lie
  • options available when parties cannot agree

We hope you can join us.
